Dorothy needed to journey all the way to The Emerald City so she could see the truth. She had always had the power to go home. The journey is important. As humans we innately seek the light that we are. The realization of the truth that lies at the end of our quest is not the final chapter. The real journey began as Dorothy floated away from The Emerald City, leaving the Wizard and Oz behind. How did she live her life after that? What was life like for her in Kansas from that day forward? The real story is what we do after we’ve gone to see the Wizard. Once you’ve realized that the shaman or the medicine woman or the wizard is simply reflecting your inherent power back to you, you see the truth; you’ve been wearing your ruby slippers the whole damn time.
